1. Make sure you write for a specific audience
The most important thing to think about when you write is who you are writing to. If you don’t recognize who the viewer is you’re trying to reach, it will be very difficult to get your goal across to them. You will have to step outside of yourself and come from your own perception. This is the only way you can write in their opinion. I find that every time I sit down to write, I try to think about who exactly I’m writing to. This is not always easy to do as your audience may have several aspects that have a significant gap. You have to think about things like age, gender, hobbies, maybe even their income level and the kind of things they like to buy, talents, interests and various other types of facts. For example, you might write an article that is only read by stay-at-home moms, or an additional article for stay-at-home moms. In such a case, each group has different needs that should be considered when you write your article.
Knowing what kind of person or age group you are trying to reach will help you articulate them in terms they understand. An example of this is that if you were to write for a group of people aged 60 to 80 and talk about music, you would give different examples of artists or composers than for a group of people aged 18 to 25. group wouldn’t be too concerned about who’s currently in Billboard’s top 10. Another example of this could be writing an article about a hobby or craft. You tell that to people who are at least interested in the hobby and undoubtedly not to a group of business people. 2. Some locations work better than others, find the one that works for you
What do we mean when we use the word location. Simply put, this is the medium you choose to get your message across to your audience. You may want to step out of your comfort zone and take up things like magazines, newspapers, magazines, books, radio and TV ads, blogs, websites, forums, and social media. The option is up to you as to where you want to share your information. Whatever location you choose, you want to be sure that you enjoy using it. On the other hand, it is also essential that you can reach your target audience in the location you select.
For example, if I’m writing how to make a rubber stamp greeting card, the best location is probably a magazine that specializes solely in crafts or stamping or a stamping forum or blog I have about the craft of rubber stamping or paper craft. Crafters look for things like that to learn new things about their craft. On the other hand, it wouldn’t make sense for me to talk about it on a radio show because my point comes across better with visual examples and a forum. On the other hand, if I explained about online stores to buy rubber stamping supplies, I could use quite a few locations. You have to think carefully about who you want to reach. Each of us sees things differently. Every day we are exposed to written interactions that we skim or ignore. 3. Determine what you are trying to achieve with your writing and make it very clear and to the point
Your goal is to touch your readers every time you write. There are three main ways you can achieve this. You can try to give your readers material that you think is current for them. A second way is to frame the information in such a way that you have a call to action, that is, you intend your readers to take some sort of immediate action. The third way is to get in touch with your audience’s emotions so that they feel strongly about what you write.
A good writer will focus on only one of these aspects. As a writer, you need to select one of these items and get it right. If you succeed, the others will fall into place by themselves. You have to become aware that while writing it is impractical to do all these things in one article and do it right. I have found that if I have energy about something, I can write about it. So write about things you like and write about things you know.
